Reduce Frequency and Improve Daily Function
Migraines can be intense and disruptive, affecting your ability to work, focus, and participate in everyday activities. The combination of head pain, sensitivity, and other symptoms can make even simple tasks feel overwhelming.
At EleVis Wellness Collective, we take a comprehensive, movement-based approach to migraine management in Chicago, IL. By combining Chiropractic care, Acupuncture, and Massage Therapy, we focus on identifying contributing factors and reducing the physical tension and patterns that may be influencing your symptoms.
Our goal isn’t just temporary relief. It’s helping you better manage symptoms, reduce frequency, and improve your ability to function day to day.
Headaches Versus Migraines: What’s the Difference?
Headaches are among the most common medical complaints in the world, and almost everyone has experienced one at least once. They can vary wildly in terms of severity, location on the head, and duration. You might have a mild sinus headache that goes away after a few hours, or you may experience persistent, recurring headaches that seem impossible to shake.
The most common form of headache is a tension-type headache, which occurs due to contracting muscles in the neck, face, or jaw. These contractions can have any number of triggers, such as stress, skipped meals, or lack of sleep.
Migraines are the second most common form of headache and are a much more complex condition than a tension-type headache, causing intense, throbbing pain in the side of the head and additional symptoms, namely light/sound sensitivity, nausea, and vomiting.
A migraine attack typically lasts between 4 hours and 3 days. As with tension-type headaches, certain factors can trigger an attack, although the exact triggers will vary from person to person. Triggers can include things like:
- Muscle Tension and Posture: Tightness in the neck, shoulders, and upper back can contribute to tension that may trigger or worsen migraine symptoms.
- Stress and Nervous System Response: Increased stress levels can heighten sensitivity in the nervous system, making migraine episodes more likely.
- Sleep and Lifestyle Changes: Irregular sleep patterns, fatigue, or changes in routine can disrupt the body’s natural rhythms and contribute to migraines.
- Environmental Triggers: Factors such as lighting, noise, weather changes, or screen exposure can influence the onset of symptoms.
Because migraines are influenced by multiple systems, treatment often focuses on reducing contributing factors rather than addressing a single cause.
How We Treat Migraines at EleVis Wellness Collective
Your care begins with a detailed evaluation of your symptoms, lifestyle patterns, and areas of tension or restriction. From there, we create a personalized plan designed to help you better manage your migraines and improve overall function.
Reducing physical tension and improving how your body responds to stress and movement is a central focus of your care at EleVis Wellness Collective. Treatment is designed to address contributing factors such as muscle tightness, joint restriction, and nervous system sensitivity. As your symptoms improve, your plan will progress to support long-term management and reduce the frequency and intensity of episodes.
Your plan may include:
- Chiropractic Care: Targeted adjustments and mobilizations help improve movement in the neck and upper spine, which may reduce tension that contributes to migraines.
- Acupuncture: This approach may help regulate the nervous system, reduce pain, and support the body’s natural ability to manage migraine symptoms.
- Massage Therapy: Soft tissue work helps relieve muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back, improving circulation and reducing physical stress.
